As mentioned in my previous post, I was in charge of this year’s celebrations.
After a bit of research and planning, our itinerary was:
Breakfast/brunch at Singapore Arts House (one of the romantic cafes listed by the internet)
-cancelled as hubby had to bring the car to do something about the camper kit that was digging into the tyres.
I took the opportunity to write him a love letter that I didn’t get the chance to write cos I was either busy doing research for the big day or working and by the time hubs was back, I couldn’t write properly
Lunch: Free and Easy
We ended up having a 5/6-course lunch set at Lao Beijing.
The crab roe and abalone soup and fried toufu was nice but the rest were so-so. It was a good experience though cos it came in individual dishes Wedding Dinner style except we had small portions each and it was lunchtime.
Couple spa at Raffles Town Club
Another fun experience. Our first experience in Spa much less couple spa. I was pretty shocked when I was told to disrobe. Me being suaku thought that they had some method for us removing our clothes without being exposed. I was even more shocked when the scrub went all the way to my vital parts at the chest, all in the presence of the two ladies and hubby! *faintz*
Hubby was quite horrified with the scrub cos he’s very sensitive and gets tickled very easily so he was laughing so hard when he got scrubbed at the inner thighs and armpits and all. Oh ya we were allowed to keep our bottom undies (provided by them) on.
Movies at the Cathay Cineplex
We seldom go to the movies and we’ve never stepped into the Cathay Cineplex ever since it was opened. However, hubs overturned my itinerary by suggesting we go shopping for his pressie instead. I didn’t buy the item in the end cos it was too pricey for me to choose the design for him and I gave him a paper watch(in my love letter mentioned above)
Dinner at Halia
Highlight of the day! We had dinner at Halia. I read from Miin’s blog about their celebs last year and how good the food was. After some research on the internet on “Singapore’s Top 10 Romantic Restaurants”, I decided Halia was it. And the food was indeed superb. Everything from the “200-day grain fed aged ribeye beef steak” to the beer to the chocolate dessert. We had dinner outdoors beside the lush greenery and the soothing sounds of the man-made waterfall nearby. The weather that day was good and the waiters were super attentive, yet discreet enough to let you fully enjoy a private dining experience. Hubs enjoyed that place so much he overturned my final destination at Equinox and had his drinks at Halia instead. Though it was our priciest meal ever (about $170+), the grain fed aged beef was worth every dollar.
You may be wondering where are the photos. That’s because I forgot the cammie and I was enjoying myself so much I forgot to use my iphone to take down some shots. Such a pity but hubs commented that he thinks he can remember this year’s celebs even without the photos.
I think it’s the experience of doing new things together that makes it very romantic. And me was a happy woman cos hubs told me that when he told his female korean colleague that he didn’t know what we were doing for our anniversary cos I was the one planning it, she oohed and wow-ed saying I was a very nice person and a good wife.
Haha I guess it’s common for most cultures that the husband plans the wedding anniv?
As I did my research for our anniv, I found that there were many ladies who did romantic things for their hubbies. From wearing their wedding gown again to lighting the room with candles and throwing petals everywhere on the floor to writing sweet letters. I never knew guys needed romance cos they always seemed to be the one to not know how to romance a girl. Then I realised many of the boyfriends/husbands were touched by what their girls did for them. One husband even commented that his wife watching a soccer game with him was romantic. So…
Anniversaries are good cos they help us to tune ourselves back to each other and put that special touch back into our relationship, even if it’s only for a day =)
